On 26 th September 2015, during the 7th Festival of Dolnośląskie “Gifts of the Forest”, the family picnic with the health zone was organized in the town centre of Lwówek Śląski.

Within the framework of organized posts information for a healthy lifestyle was submitted , as well as basic research was carried out with the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.

 

Rehabilitation post “ Exercises for evberybody” – well- qualified physiotherapists  Mrs Kamilla Góral and Ms Agnieszka Nestorowicz presented exercise techniques  and encouraged to active forms of spending free time. This post enjoyed special interest among kids, who were crazy about  balls, „beans”, bikes…. It was an education through entertainment.

 

First Aid post – using dummies (adult and child),  paramedic Mr Dariusz Sikora presented ways of  first aid in a sudden deterioration in the health status,  including chokes, loss of consciousness, epileptic attack, stopping the heart rate (CPR) The taining on this stage brought benefits for school youth from all over the County and individuals – families, grandparents with their grandchildren, disabled.

The experiences gained during the training in this post indicate that knowledge of first aid is insufficient, and just 30 chest compressions being performed accordingly can save someone’s life.

  

Research post: measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation study, sugar levels, BMI. Above examinations were performed by the following nurses: Teresa Truchan, Małgorzata Kaczmerek, Jolanta Markowska, Jolanta Skawińska, Barbara Fijałkowska, Krystyna Głuszuk, Renata Łopato. Nearly half a thousand were tested on this post. The screening helped to identify a group of people with exceeded testing standards and have indicated the need for further diagnosis, particularly in the direction of diabetes mellitus and hypertension.

 

Culinary workshopswere conducted by Mrs Zofia Fryst from agrotourist farmhouse called “Homestead along Prussian Dragoons “. During these workshops, crumpets made from  all sorts of organic flour (e.g. buckwheat or spelt), with herbs and honey from local hives were baked in a wood fire oven. Children made lemonade from honey and mint. Before proceeding with the work of workshop participants received an kitchen apron  and took part in a professional hand-washing course. Nurses took care of keeping proper hand hygiene, so the children could see the ways and means of hygiene in the hospital. After baking crumpets made by children themselves , they were given an apple and a peach .
